Unit Questions

Through my group, the 5 main questions that were created for this unit was
  1. How much influence does religion have on government?
  2. Hoe much do you have to believe or partake in a religion to be a part of it?
  3. Given that most religions are based on unseen phenomenon's, how much say can we give them in matters that we know are legitimate?
  4. How many deeds can be justified in the name of religion when it's terrorism?
  5. How do different religions find a way to coexist with each other peacefully?
These questions are essential to this unit due to the fact that Religion plays a major influence through how government works. In other words, there are some cases where candidates are chosen based on religion. Also, religion is monumental in the lives of everyone since people have distinct types of faith, which make a religion grow by how much it's supported. Religion is influential on many moral decisions an individual will take, whether it's bad or good. Religions is what defines good and bad, based on the religion. It shows how people create distinct realities around them and others, to make their religion stronger.

Article: Hay Alguien Detras Toda la Maldad?

This article in other words means "is there someone behind all of the bad things happening in the world?" This article relates religion with politics due to the fact that people throughout the world blame the fact that the Devil is causing all of the evil and murders in the world. One example given from the text is the genocide that occurred in Rwanda in 1994. Many civilians there were injured and killed. This can also be related to the drug trafficking conflicts and homicide rates in Central America, since People believe a malevolent spirit corrupts the people inside of them, making them into people they're not. Just for someone's religion, they believe that a human being doesn't rule the world, yet someone above our capacity, which is god, which has led to many controversies through the years whether or not God exists. A question within this situation is "Why are the believers the essential element to understanding the history of a religion?"I can answer this question by saying that believers of their religion can imply their beliefs and demonstrate how faithful they are to be a good follower. An example of this is how a man kept his hair long because of following his religion, while other officials cut it off, without showing any respect of one's religion. Believers can also turn out to be great since they give the culture of their religion through their actions and traditions, while it demonstrates whether or not it's faithful to follow.

    Star Wars: A New Hope

During the time in class we had to view Star Wars, I learned a lot of how it's connected to the religion unit we are learning this semester. Many of the examples used in this film is the fact that Darth Vader signifies  "Dark Father". In this case, we are shown by the way he is dressed that he represents evil, or in other words, the devil. Additionally, Luke Skywalker, who is dressed in white, represents the good, or like someone serving god. This film comes into place with a major concept faced in religion, which is good vs. evil. Another example that is shown through the force, which is an energy field of light. This can be used either in a good way or a bad way, which is a belief of polytheistic people. A theme underlying one part of the movie is Technology vs. Religion. In this case, A massive ship with the capacity to take down an entire planet vs. the force. Darth Vader believed that the force was able to be more stronger than the weapon, since he was a Jedi Knight and believed in this other term for religion. The life of a Jedi Knight is known to be strict, since they are described as guardians of peace and justice. They represent monks in the world, by the strict lifestyle they live in. The question mainly asked in this unit is "How does religion shape the way people understand and respond to the world around them?" Through the film, I see that "religion" affects the lives of others since it makes individuals what they believe is right or wrong and where their determination should be. It divided the empire with the rebels, and what cause they fought for. Good vs. Evil. God vs. Devil.
